The Mercedes-Benz Actros is a heavy duty truck introduced by Mercedes-Benz in 1995. It is normally used for long-distance haulage, heavy duty distribution haulage and construction haulage. It is available in weights starting at 18 tonnes and is powered by a straight 6 cylinder diesel engine with turbocharger and intercooler. Daimler Trucks/Lorries launched the version II of the Actros in 2002, and the version III in 2007. The fourth generation of the Actros, named officially "the New Actros", launched in July 2011.

Buying a foreign used Mercedes-Benz Actros from a local Ugandan car bond

A number of car bonds in Uganda also sell trucks and among them is the Mercedes-Benz Actros. Trucks like the Actros are very useful especially in the hauling of goods into and out of the country especially due to the fact that Uganda has a very poor railway network and also Uganda being a land locked country.

Anyway, in the local car bond, the truck is already imported into the country and may find that all its due taxes are paid or not. This will depend on the importer. If the truck has not been cleared fully, then you as the buyer will have to clear all the due taxes and charges of the truck. There is always room for negotiations with the local bond car sellers.

However it’s very important that you find a reputable car bond as some may not mean what they show and represent something that can make you lose a lot of money.

Prices of the Actros can differ depending on a number of factors say mileage of the truck, model, year of manufacture and the general condition of the truck. All these matter and affect the final price of the Actros.

Importing a foreign Used Mercedes-Benz Actros from Japan or other parts of the world

In case if you prefer to import you own Mercedes-Benz Actros from say Japan or from Europe, things change a bit. First it would require you to find a trusted dealer or seller in that regard, determine your specific car features and requirements, expected budget you plan to spend on buying the car and well calculated taxes to be paid to the tax authorities in order to clear Mercedes-Benz Actros.

The taxes charged by the Uganda Revenue Authority include Import Duty, Value added (VAT), Withholding Tax, Environmental Levy, Infrastructure Levy, and Registration Fees basing on the CIF of the Mercedes-Benz Actros from Japan.

On arrival to Kampala, Uganda, you will have to clear the taxes at The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), apply and pay for a number plate and then the third party license. You will also notice the some of these charges or fees differ from other vehicles.

General Mercedes-Benz Actros reviews for Uganda

There is no doubt that the Mercedes-Benz Truck tractors like the actors are the most dominant truck tractors on Ugandan cross border highways. They are strong, versatile and reliable.

In 2012, the cabin has received a lot of modifications and now features even a better design. The overall stance of the Actros is dynamic and muscular.

The side view is also pretty catchy as there is a beautiful flow between the front section and the flanks. We also like the bumper, door wind deflector and the entrance as they merge seamlessly into one another to form a single unit.

Most of the exterior modifications were made to improve the truck’s aerodynamics and the Actros was highly tested in the wind tunnel. Thanks to the aerodynamic design the overall efficiency was also improved significantly over the previous model.

Hop inside and you’ll find one of the best kitted truck cabins available on the market. There is also a lot of space inside and thanks to the flat floor the driver can move through the cabin effortlessly. To maximize the ergonomy, the dashboard features a wrap round design and is fitted will all the necessary controls which come easy into hand and have a logical layout.

The instrument panel design, materials and layout are the best-looking of any truck available. When equipped with all the “toys” of the superior trim levels, the truck’s ambiance is impressive, with big, clear gauges, an uncluttered center stack and tasteful trims spanning the dashboard. The Mercedes-Benz Actros is one of the main Trucks used in Uganda and some of the major rivals include the Scania tractors, Volvo Tractors, MAN trucks and the Fuso tractors though the Japanese truck tractors are so common in this category.

The new generation Mercedes Actros moves the German reliability heritage further. The truck’s cabin is comfortable than ever and the engines are a strong statement for the Actros efficiency. The exterior design is also catchy and the German truck is available in a wide range of configurations. The engines may not be as lively as other units in the segment, but they are able to do their jobs just fain and can carry massive loads with maximum efficiency and without too much drama.
