Before you buy a Mitsubishi Pajero in Uganda
by Edwin
The Mitsubishi Pajero is a sport utility vehicle manufactured by Mitsubishi. It was named after Leopardus pajeros, the Pampas cat, which is native to the Patagonia plateau region of southern Argentina. But pajero in Spanish is also a common term of abuse, usually translated as "wanker" or "tosser", thus perhaps why alternative names have been used for many markets. It is known as the Mitsubishi Montero (meaning "mountain hunter") in the Americas (except Brazil and Jamaica), and Spain, while in the United Kingdom it is known as the Mitsubishi Shogun.

General Mitsubishi Pajero reviews for Uganda
With only a five-speed automatic gearbox, and especially in long wheelbase form, the Mitsubishi Shogun doesn't score very well for running costs. Fuel economy stands at a poor 34.4mpg and emissions of 216g/km are quite high. Both of those facts mean you'll need deep pockets just to keep it fuelled and taxed. This will explain partly the reason as to why most people in Uganda will prefer the Toyota land cruiser to the shogun.
Getting to the interior and design, the Mitsubishi Shogun has a no-nonsense approach to styling. It was designed to be a rugged off-roader, and the bluff front end and sharp edges portray that impression quite well. Compared with modern 4x4s it probably needs a bit of a styling rethink – the format looks a bit ‘old school’ in the age of the lifestyle-focused crossover SUV. The interior is full of chunky switches and a few high quality materials but it's a little utilitarian. The Shogun isn’t available with an array of the latest driving aids either, unlike more modern SUV rivals.
Looking at the comfort and boot space, the Shogun is a big, practical car with a decent boot and lots of space for passengers, especially in 7-seater guise – although using the extra row obviously compromises boot space.
Mitsubishi Pajero complaints basing on model year comparison in Uganda
The 2008 Mitsubishi Pajero has the most overall complaints, & the most-reported problem is with the 1997 Pajero for won't start.
Secondly, the Mitsubishi shogun is not so fast going in terms of liquidation like the competitors from Toyota in particular Toyota Land cruiser J90 series.

Conclusion
While the Mitsubishi Pajero has its fans, there’s no doubt it’s finding life a lot tougher than it used to. It was once the premium SUV everyone wanted, but sadly for Mitsubishi things have moved on. As well as all those Land Rover Discovery and Range Rover models taking chunks out of the Pajero, the Ugandan auto-market itself has undergone a sea-change since the heady days of the 1990s.
