British Airways has appointed George Mawadri as the new area commercial manager for East and Central Africa.
George brings a vast amount of airline experience and local knowledge to the position having been with British Airways for 14 years in East Africa.
His previous roles include finance manager in Uganda, airport manager at Entebbe, Uganda country manager and most recently Kenya country manager. His area of responsibility includes Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Zambia - all served directly by British Airways from London - as well as surrounding feeder markets such as Zimbabwe, Malawi, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Sudan and South Sudan.
His appointment comes at a time when British Airways has embarked on a massive £5 billion customer investment programme, which includes purchasing new aircraft, introducing new products and technology in the air and on the ground and staff training.
The immediate benefit in Tanzania has been changes to the in-flight catering.
"I am very passionate about exceeding customers' expectations and I'm pleased that we've already been able to implement some improvements on our Tanzanian services," says George.
