Importing car from U.S. to Uganda

Question: Hello, I am importing a vehicle from the U.S. to Uganda. Can you advise me if 1) there is a import tax/duty fee, etc.; and 2) if we are subject to this if we are simply transporting the vehicle for personal use and not business use.

Answer: Cars imported to Uganda attract import duty. However, you can only be exempted from this Import Tax if you have been using the car for over a year and you’re now returning home to Uganda.

You will have to provide proof of ownership of this car to qualify for this Import Tax exemption.
