How to Cook meat in Groundnut Sauce - Traditional Uganda Meat Recipe 9

Recipe Ingredients



  • 500gm Meat

  • 300gm pounded groundnuts

  • 2 onion

  • 1 teaspoonful oil

  • 1 green pepper

  • 1 big tomato

  • 2 seasoning /stock/cubes

  • 1 teaspoonful Royco (Muchuzi mix)

  • 1 litre of water (hot)

  • Salt to taste



Cooking Method


Smoke the meat using fine charcoal and banana peelings until brown and almost cooked.

Cut your meat into mouthful pieces

Peel onions and chop into small pieces

Blanch tomato, remove skin and chop finely.

Wash green pepper and chop finely

Heat oil in saucepan until haze (gives off smoke),fry the onions until slightly brown.

Add tomatoes fry until soft and boiling

Add the groundnuts stir vigorously to thoroughly mix groundnuts with the tomatoes mixture. Then keep stirring until it gives off a cooked flavor.

Add little water while stirring vigorously until it makes a paste texture (semi solid). Then add the seasoning cubes. Stir well let it boil for a while.

Add more water stir well and let it boil. Then add the meat and green pepper. Let it boil.

When it starts boiling, reduce temperature to simmering and simmer for 45 mins-I hour while covered.

When almost cooked add a mixture of salt and royco, stir well and let it simmer/cook for 5 mins. Now its ready to serve.

Serve hot in a serving dish with any staple food.
