Venex First was the demand by the Managing director Madhvani group of companies Mayur Madhvani who asked the president to allow them develop a golf course at the newly developed Chobe hotel in Murchison falls.
With out hesitation, the president cleared the developers to embark on the development of the golf course allowing them to use about 130 kilometers of Murchison national park
In a telephone interview the director National Environment Authority Dr. Aryamanya Mugisha said that the directive by the president is not automatic adding that the development of a golf course is subject to environmental impact assessment.
In 2006, Madhvani group of companies had asked UWA to allow them develop a golf course at Mweya Safari lodge in Queen Elizabeth the battle the investor lost citing dangers associated with the wildlife.
The wildlife act gives powers to UWA executive director to make decisions on any development to go on in a conservation area that may not contravene the wildlife.
