Political tensions in Sudan threaten Ugandan trade interests

Tensions and war threats between Sudan and Southern Sudan is worrying Ugandans trading in Southern Sudan as well the government of Uganda.

The traders’ leader Ntege Walusimbi says that Southern Sudan is now the biggest trade partner but has of recent become insecure due war tension between the south and Khartoum.

Ntege says that Uganda gets 580 million dollars per year from the business transactions between Uganda and Southern Sudan.

Uganda as a country is also not spared by the war tensions because the Chief of Defense Forces yesterday said Uganda will not seat and watch as Southern Sudan is bombed by Sudan.

Uganda trades with Sudan in food stuffs, hard wares, manufactures goods, services in transport, among others.
