How best to Harvest Stevia in Uganda

Stevia is harvested when plants are mature and blooms have just begun to form.

To harvest, use hands to pick the fully matured leaves.

The picked leaves can be dried with low heat and good air circulation for 24 to 48 hours, and then thresh to separate the sweet leaves from the bitter stems.

Harvesting can be done 3-4 times per year.

You can go ahead to extract the sweetener in a similar way of brewing tea, the dried Stevia leaves are soaked in water to obtain a sweet extract, which is then filtered and purified.
