MTN Uganda has signed a partnership with StarTimes Uganda to enable the customers of the pay television use the mobile money service to clear their subscription fees.
Simon Arineitwe, the StarTimes country marketing manager, said the partnership would widen their customer outreach.
He said this was because most of the 65,000 subscribers they had connected in the past 18 months were connected to MTN network.
“This is an impressive milestone as we witness yet another partnership with MTN. The fact that we have the largest customer base in Uganda’s pay television industry, we proud to be associated with a leading brand,” he said.
Richard Mwami, the MTN head of public access and mobile money, said the service holds a record adaptation rate of any non-tariff product in Uganda.
