Question:Hi,
I am an expat preparing for a position to live and work in Uganda on a 6 month contract with an international NGO operating in Uganda
1) Do I need to apply for a G1 class work permit in advance of my trip or do I come on a tourist visa and apply for a work permit while I am in Uganda?
2) In case of latter, how does the taxation work? If I am drawing a salary in Uganda in the interim period before getting my G1 class visa, while I am on tourist ( or business?) visa - how do I file for local taxation later?
I would appreciate your advice.
Thank You,
Radhika
Answer:
Yes, you need to apply for the G1 permit before you come.
