Warid Telecom Uganda Africa To Invest Additional US$25mn

Ugandan mobile operator Warid Telecom is planning to invest an additional US$25mn by mid-2012 after investing up to US$25mn in network expansion and improvement in 2011.

According to business Monitor International, the operator also plans to hand over its call centre operations to India-based Spanco BPO as part of measures to reduce cost on non-core business areas. Additionally, all Warid outsourcing and call centre operations, including all inbound calls, will be handled by the new joint firm Spanco Raps Uganda.

Meanwhile; Warid Telecom has awarded another one of its customers in their new and exciting Promotion dubbed “Progress with Warid”. This is an SMS based promotions where new and existing Warid customers participate in an SMS game, accumulate points and stand a chance to win the car. Amina Nasser, a hair dresser from Kibuli has won the first out of 7 Progres cars to be given out in this competition.
