Question: If we are planning to get work visas, work for an established NGO in rural Uganda without pay for about 2 years, do we still need to obtain work permits?
Answer: There is no work Visa. But you can apply for a single entry visa and there after apply for a work permit, which can take one month to process. You’re safer having a work permit if you intend to engage in any form of work during your visit to Uganda.
I would imagine that work permits are necessary to know the number of foreigners working in Uganda and at the same time for tax purposes. If you have zero income, naturally you will have zero tax obligations.
